Behind the phenomenal properties of SUL hammocks is the MONOFIL fabric used in the manufacture, a micro fabric with reinforced ripstop weave. This fabric is highly durable and has a much higher resistance to mechanical damage than conventional super-light fabrics. However, the most important feature of MONOFIL is the complete absence of a coating and thus its unrestricted breathability. The SUL hammock offers 100% breathability and... partial transparency!
The SUL is our way of thanking everyone who struggles with every unnecessary ounce of gear. Our main concern was to keep all the usability and comfort features known from our other models. We didn't limit the weight of the hammock by reducing its dimensions - it's still a full-size hammock (300×145 cm) that can accommodate people up to 190 cm tall.
To make the SUL even easier to use, an advanced, fully adjustable suspension system is included as standard. This is a modified version of our SMUK suspension system, where we have reduced the weight even further by using a super strong 2 mm Dyneema rope. This rope, which is not much thicker than an ordinary underwear cord, can withstand a load of more than 660 kg!
The SMUK UL suspension system is used to hang the hammock quickly and conveniently. The heart of the system are adjustable lashing straps, the so-called Whoopie Slings - they can be shortened or lengthened at will, the adjustment range is 60-300 cm - optimal for effective hammock suspension. The adjustment is made by taking the excess line from a specially prepared braid.
The SUL is attached to the trees with 20 mm wide webbing straps, which, when wrapped around the trunk, form so-called tree hugs - a safe suspension point that does not damage the bark. At the ends of the straps we sewed a fourfold loop, into which a crossbar made of anodized aluminum is inserted. The crossbars serve as a support point for the Dyneema lines, are quick and fabulously easy to use.
Thanks to the easy attachment of the straps to the tree and the fully adjustable tensioning ropes, you can adjust the hammock any way you want after hanging it and not before, as with conventional ropes or straps. No more hanging the hammock "by eye"!
With its light weight, small packing volume and easy handling, the SUL can practically always be our companion - whether it's a city walk, a short excursion or an expedition lasting several weeks.
